Creating Content Category Index Pages
By creating Content Types, you have the ability to stream each article placed in that category and also the ability to manage the content the goes above the articles. This is great for your website's SEO quality because it gives you control over the content displayed at the top of each of your categories along with having snippets from the articles in that category streaming as they are added.
To create a Content Category Index, follow these steps:
- Go to the new article screen
- Name the page "index"
- Give it a page title
- Choose the category that you want this page to be the index for
- Give the page a meta title (optional)
- Type in your content (optional)
- Save
- Preview Page!
It's Done!
You now have a page that will stream any other articles you place in that category.
If you do not see your articles streaming still, you have to go to Config -> Category Types and ensure that the Allow Comments value is set to 1 for the categories you want to stream articles for.
If that still doesnt work, check your /system/application/config/init.php file and make sure the variable StreamArticles is set to a number greater than 0. The number set there will determine how much articles are displayed on the indexes.
You can manage how each article snippet is displayed by going to the Blocks section and editing the Article Item content.
