Creating new content

To create a new piece of content, go to http://www.yoursite.com/admin/newpage/articles/ by clicking on the New Article link in your admin toolbar.

Each piece of content has 7 parts:

  • Title - The title is required and is considered the Page Title. The Page Title is displayed on all pages and is controlled by the Title field in the content section.
  • URL/Short Name - This is considered the page url. This is used to build the link to your page and is very important in improving SEO quality on your site. If this field isn't filled in, the Title of the page will be converted to a page url for you.
  • Article Type - This is the same as the Content Types. This will allow you to break your site into different sections. More importantly, it also helps build the url to your pages. If you want to create a new page on the main section of your site (eg. http://www.yoursite.com/page3), then choose the "Page" article type.

By default, the help url uses a different template than other pages. It's configured for use in popup windows.
  • Meta Title - This is an optional field. If filled in, this will be the main title of your page that displays in the browser's top bar. If not filled in, this field will be replaced by the Title. This is also important for SEO quality because it allows you to be versital with your page titles and meta titles seperately.
  • Content - The content editor supplied is TinyMCE. This is a powerful editor that is much like using word and easy for anyone to use. Not included by default with the CMS, but can also be useful when integrated with NSEC, is the TinyMCE ImageManager or TinyMCE FileManager plugins.
